There were many mistakes made in this movie, in the decision to fully eradicate all Star Wars works before it accept the 6 pictures (which alienated all of Star Wars's largest supporters), to not having a single endangering villain that might be feared, to the protagonist inexplicably gain the powers of Jedi knight in a day with no training, to essentially ripping off the storyline from Episode IV in one of the very lazy writing stunts in cinema history.
